Spiders are a symptom as much as a pest: they set up where insect prey is abundant, around exterior lighting, lanais, eaves, meter boxes and garage corners. Florida homes also host the two spiders worth taking seriously: southern black widows and brown widows, which favor patio furniture, grills, playground equipment and utility boxes.
Our spider work combines direct treatment and de-webbing with prey reduction, because a home with fewer insects grows fewer spiders. We knock down existing webs and egg sacs, treat cracks and harborage points, and put down the same perimeter barrier that keeps their food supply out.
Signs you need spider control
- Webs rebuilding within days of knocking them down
- Messy, tangled webs low to the ground (possible widows)
- Spiders inside the home, especially in garages and closets
- Heavy insect activity around exterior lights
- Egg sacs under furniture edges or in corners
Frequently asked about spider control
Are black widow spiders common in Florida?
Yes, both southern black widows and the even more common brown widows live across Tampa Bay. They favor undisturbed, sheltered spots: under patio chairs, in grills, meter boxes and playsets. Their bites warrant medical attention, so treat them professionally.
Why do I have so many spiders around my house?
Food. Spiders follow insect prey, which concentrates around exterior lighting and moist landscaping. Reducing the insect population with a perimeter treatment usually reduces spiders more than any spider-specific product.
Do spider treatments kill the webs too?
Treatment kills spiders, but webs must be physically removed, which we do as part of every visit. De-webbing also forces surviving spiders to expend energy rebuilding, making treatment more effective.
Can you spider-proof a lanai?
Largely, yes: de-webbing, sealing screen gaps, adjusting lighting and a treated perimeter make lanais dramatically less attractive. Quarterly maintenance keeps them that way through Florida’s long web season.
